Who we are and what this policy covers

RETU is provided by RETU Studio, based in Canada. This policy explains how the RETU Android app and the RETU Studio website handle information. RETU's core reading features do not require an account.

Local document processing

Documents and text opened in RETU are processed locally on your device. RETU Studio does not upload your documents, pasted text, narration, or reading activity to its servers. If a future feature needs to send content elsewhere, the app will identify that feature before you use it and this policy will be updated.

Information stored on your device

RETU may store the following information locally to provide app functionality:

• Documents or text you choose to open or paste
• Recent-document references, playback position, and bookmarks
• Selected voice, theme, and playback settings
• Free narration usage and cached lifetime-unlock status
• Speech models and voice files downloaded for on-device narration
• Exported audio files that you choose to create

Android and your device's storage controls govern access to these local files. Exported or shared files are stored in locations you choose and may be accessible to other apps or people you share them with.

Speech models and voices

Speech models and voice files downloaded by RETU are used only to enable on-device narration requested by you. RETU does not use your documents to train speech or artificial-intelligence models.

Google Play purchases

Optional RETU Lifetime purchases are processed by Google Play. RETU Studio does not receive or store your full payment-card or banking details. Google Play may provide purchase status and order information needed to activate, restore, support, and account for a purchase. Google handles payment data under its own privacy policy.

Website analytics

RETU Studio uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits and improve this website. Cloudflare Web Analytics is designed without cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting for analytics. Website analytics do not include documents or activity inside the RETU app. Cloudflare may process limited request information to deliver and protect the website under its own privacy terms.

Support communications

If you contact RETU Studio, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message, and any diagnostic details you provide. Please do not send confidential documents unless we specifically ask for them and you are comfortable doing so.

Why information is processed

Where privacy law requires a legal basis, RETU Studio processes information as needed to provide requested app, purchase, and support services; to meet legal and accounting obligations; and for legitimate interests such as site security, aggregate website measurement, and service improvement. RETU Studio does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Retention and deletion

Information stored by RETU on your device remains there until you remove the related item, clear the app's storage, delete exported files, or uninstall RETU. These actions may permanently remove local reading history, bookmarks, settings, models, and exports. Purchase records remain with Google Play under Google's retention rules. Support correspondence and transaction information held by RETU Studio are kept only as long as reasonably needed for support, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified where appropriate.

Security

RETU relies on Android's application sandbox and device security controls to protect information stored by the app. RETU Studio uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for information it handles. No device, transmission, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure, so keep your device updated and protected with a screen lock.

International processing and your rights

Google and Cloudflare may process limited purchase, website, or service data in countries other than your own, subject to their safeguards and terms. Your documents and app reading activity are not included in those transfers. Where applicable, you may ask RETU Studio to access, correct, delete, restrict, or provide a copy of personal information we hold about you, or object to certain processing. You may also contact your local privacy regulator. Because most RETU app information stays on your device, you can manage much of it directly through RETU and Android.

Children's privacy

RETU is a general-audience app and is not designed or marketed specifically to children. RETU Studio does not knowingly collect children's documents or reading activity. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information to RETU Studio can contact us to request its deletion.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as RETU changes or legal requirements evolve. The current version will remain available on this page with its effective date.
